On November 6, the “Discover Colorful Guizhou, Experience Beautiful China” media tour brought over 20 journalists from China, South Korea, Spain, and Hungary, and other countries to Anshun, where they marveled at Guizhou’s natural splendors and engineering feats, including the Huangguoshu Waterfall, Baling River Bridge, and the construction site of the Huajiang Canyon Bridge.
The first stop for the media group was the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area. Witnessing the magnificent 77-meter waterfall cascading down, reporters were struck by the breathtaking beauty of Guizhou’s landscape. The waterfall’s unique six-way viewing experience—allowing visitors to see it from the top, bottom, front, back, and sides—left the journalists enchanted. "Even in winter, it’s incredibly impressive and absolutely worth a visit!" commented Alvaro Alfaro from Spain’s EFE News Agency.
As the largest waterfall cluster in Asia, the Huangguoshu area is working to develop itself into a world-class tourist destination. Infrastructure upgrades and service improvements are transforming the region from a simple sightseeing spot into a multifaceted, experiential destination.
Not far from Huangguoshu, the media group visited Baling River Bridge, located in Guanling County. Known as one of the world’s tallest suspension bridges, Baling River Bridge offers panoramic canyon views, drawing visitors to marvel at the engineering feat. Braving the mountain winds on the bridge, journalists captured the awe-inspiring scenery and commended the exceptional engineering that brought the bridge to life.
Beyond its architectural grandeur, Baling River Bridge has become a hub for extreme sports enthusiasts. The bridge has hosted numerous adventure sports events, with BASE jumpers and bungee jumpers bringing energy and thrill to this iconic structure.
Journalists also explored the Baling River Bridge Museum below, where exhibits showcased the history and innovation behind Guizhou’s bridge-building achievements. Guided tours offered an in-depth look at the dedication and skill behind Guizhou’s engineering marvels.
About 60 kilometers away from Baling River Bridge, the final stop was the under-construction Huajiang Canyon Bridge, another milestone in Guizhou’s bridge-building legacy. Although incomplete, the bridge already exudes an extraordinary presence, spanning 2,890 meters and reaching a height of 625 meters. This record-breaking design is expected to offer visitors a new unparalleled immersive “bridge tourism” experience. Engineers at the construction site proudly shared that 75% of the project is complete, with the steel truss installation underway. When it opens in late 2025, Huajiang Canyon Bridge is set to become another landmark in Guizhou.
Tie Yi, a journalist from Macau Daily, expressed, “Witnessing Guizhou’s achievements in bridge construction has shown me China’s advanced bridge engineering technology, making this trip truly worthwhile. These bridges have transformed once impassable mountains into accessible pathways, not only improving regional transportation but also boosting economic development and enhancing the lives of local residents. Guizhou is indeed a ‘museum of bridges’ brought to life.”
Standing atop these engineering marvels, journalists reflected on the journey as more than just a bridge tour—it was a profound encounter with nature, cutting-edge engineering, and the power of human creativity.
